Sing Up for Snow!
Choir keep the crowds warm during period of ice and snow!
Snow fell this week for the first time this season and the excitement levels of the children and some staff went through the ceiling. Sadly, a deep frost followed and made some of the roads and paths in and around the school extremely slippery for cars and pedestrians. Fear not, our caretaker has gritted pathways for access, but there are still many patches of ice. Please be extremely careful. When the ice has melted, we will ensure the children can return to the playgrounds to burn off some energy. Please also ensure you are sending your children to school with overcoats, jumpers, scarves, hats and gloves, in order to keep them warm.
On Monday, our Year 6 children went off to the Racecourse for their Crucial Crew trip to learn all about fire safety and first aid from a multitude of emergency services. It is good to know the children are learning these vital life skills. At the same time, Year 4 went off to Norwich Castle to study the Romans and complete a knowledge-rich workshop on the benefits and negatives of the Roman way of life. Behaviour on both trips was excellent.
Today, our choir went off with Mrs. White-Joubert and Miss. McMylor to Great Yarmouth Minster to perform three songs as part of their events in the lead up to Christmas. Everyone represented the school well and we were all very proud of their efforts in front of a live audience. Thank you to the staff team for organising the event and to our families for coming to watch.
Talking of singing, our Christmas Carol rehearsals are in full swing and the air is filled with the music and singing of the pupils. I am sure it will be nothing short of amazing when the performance date arrives.
It has also been a pleasure to pop into classes on my learning walk this week to look at examples of how writing is being taught to our children. I shall continue this next week too. The importance of teaching the foundations of writing.
Next week on Wednesday, the school is very excited because we have a Quality Mark Assessor coming in to review our History provision and hopefully recognising the excellent work our school has been undertaking to raise the profile of this subject.
Have a great weekend everyone!
