Snow All Around
Chilly week sees the snow fall!
Brrrrrrr! It has been an exceptionally cold week this week with the additional danger of snow and ice making road and pavement surfaces very slippery and dangerous. Thankfully, we have not had any issues and the children listened very well to the safety talk about the snow and ice, so they could enjoy being outside in it, because we all know snow does not always happen very often.
On Monday, we had the pleasure of an Ofsted Readiness Appraisal, which meant, at our request, we invited an inspector in to practice what it would be like during a real Ofsted inspection for the school. Events like this provide important external validation, prepares pupils and staff for the actual occasion and allows everyone the opportunity to highlight all that is good about the school. I am pleased to say it went well and any small tweaks advised have been immediately implemented. Everyone did very well.
At the end of the week, all classes got to experience learning Mandarin courtesy of ENSFC. I have shared the images on our Gallery page and over social media. This was arranged because children voiced their desire to learn it following a pupil survey regarding Modern Foreign Languages. Days like this really show how our curriculum goes above and beyond what is expected of us in the National Curriculum. Pupils really enjoyed the dragon that the mandarin specialist brought with him. Roll on the next language experience.
Next week, I have the pleasure of popping into classes to see how the pupils are expanding their minds with all that knowledge and ensuring they are retaining it. You cannot beat being in a working classroom for the buzz of happy children busily engaging with their studies.
Have a safe weekend everyone and mind the ice. Let us hope it has all melted by next week.
