New September Start!
Summer Holidays end and the Juniors return to school!
Welcome back to a new academic year at Ormesby Village Junior School. This is my Headteacher's blog where I give a weekly summary as each Friday comes to a close. Feel free to read them as they appear and stay abreast of some of the many highlights including some valuable reminders of any up-and-coming events.
It has been fantastic to see the children interacting with our new playground markings, which went down over the Summer holidays. It was very rewarding to hear the children playing darts or trying to out do one another on the standing long jump. my personal highlight was a group of Year 6 children playing a traditional hop-scotch game together. I hope the markings last a decent amount of time so lots more children get to enjoy them, not to mention use them in PE sessions. They certainly brighten up the playgrounds from the blank scenes we had previously. Our PTFA have contributed a lot of the monies raised to the overall cost of these markings, so all pupils can benefit from their use.
Next week, we have Roald Dahl Day on Friday, where children are asked to bring in their favourite story by the author and they will be able to complete some Roald-related activities across the day. There is also the chance to hear some of the staff read extracts from his tales. There is no need to dress up on this occasion and children are expected to remain in uniform as normal. On the same day, our SENDCOs are hosting an information cafe with SENDIASS so parents from both schools can gain further valuable information about additional needs. This is at 9:15am hosted at the Junior school.
Have a lovely weekend everyone!
