Heading to the Top!

Ranworth House Captains become Headteachers for the Day!

Hello there, we are the Ranworth House Captains and we have both been Headteachers for the Day. We have had to shadow Mr. Young around all day to learn what sort of tasks he has to do everyday when leading the schools. We travelled over to the Infant school to talk to a variety of children about their education and whether they were able to tell us how they could make it better. One element was hear some of the Reception children read and support them to do their writing task. They all worked really hard and we awarded their efforts with Class Dojo Points. A large part of our experience was leading an Infant good work assembly. Neither of us were nervous and we enjoyed doing it. Upon our return to the Junior school, we asked the staff whether they required any new equipment. Ms. Forder wanted a huge amount of new yoga mats for the sensory circuits. Thirty! Goes to say, we will have very flexible children in the future. We ended by writing this blog, but just before we met as a Junior Leadership Team to organise and prepare for an assembly on difference and diversity. Soon, we will attend John Grant School to carry out a project with some of their children. Overall, we have really enjoyed the day and wish we could do it again.

Both House Captains did exceptionally well in their role as Headteachers for the Day and I am very proud of them both. Keep it up ladies!

On Tuesday, the Years 5 & 6 Boys' Football Team played North Denes and I am pleased to say after a strong match, the boys came away with a victory. Well done everyone who played.

Please can I take this opportunity to remind families about uniform expectations, which can be seen on our school uniform page. Ties and collared shirts are compulsory in the Autumn and Spring terms in Years 5 and 6, but can be altered in the Summer term when the warmer weather arrives. It is also good preparation for High School, where the secondary settings are strict enforcers of uniform expectations. Similarly, shoes do wear out from time to time and children do simply out grow them. As a result, a short, temporary period of trainer wearing will be allowed, until new black shoes are obtained. Again, reminders will be sent to families where sufficient time to acquire new shoes has been given.

Next week on Thursday, we have our Norfolk County Music Festival at the King's Centre in Norwich. Spectators are welcome and I believe there is a small charge on the door for this. I have every faith that the children from both schools will sing their hearts out. Friday is Comic Relief Day, which will be a non-uniform occasion and we are inviting everyone to wear something red. After this, the Years 5 & 6 Girls' Team have an away match against North Denes Primary School and we are hopeful that the team can claim another victory.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!
